The primary philosophy or goal of physical education at Bryan High is
to assist each child in the development of attitudes, skills, and knowledge
of human movement that will result in a lifetime of participation in physical
activity.
Goals:
To develop psychomotor skills, which refers to the dual role of skill improvement
and fitness development that the students will experience as a result of
participation in physical education or wellness.
To develop cognitive skills, accumulate knowledge, as well as the ability
to think and interpret that knowledge.
To develop affective skills that deal with the development of traits such
as values, appreciation, attitude, and interests.
To develop an understanding in the study of human movement.
To develop an understanding of the importance of health related physical
fitness and the tools to assess, acquire, and maintain fitness throughout
a lifetime.
To develop fundamentals of motor skills and higher level sports and dance
skill, as well as to provide for their use now and in the future.
To develop appropriate attitudes and social skills essential to successful
participation.
To provide an extensive array of activities with the abundance of opportunities
for every student to be successful.
