Content/Summary 

Each week a new word will be published on the Vocabulary Fun Webpage. Teachers can select from grade appropriate vocabulary activities to complete with their class during the week. At the end of the week each class will submit a well elaborated sentence using the Word Of The Week.  One sentence will be selected from each grade level as the winning sentence of the week. The winning sentences will be posted on the Vocabulary Fun Webpage at the beginning of the following week. RETURN TO TOP

Activities 

• Pronounce the word.
• Locate and discuss dictionary definition.
• Think of one or two words that will help students remember the definition.
• Let students draw a picture that will help them remember the word.
• Display word in your room.
• Use the word numerous times daily.
• Locate the word in text.
• Write synonyms and antonyms for the word.
• Have students write the definition in their own words.
• Reward students when word is used appropriately in other CORE subjects.
• Students can work on new vocabulary activities during Study Buddy Time.
• Create Super Sentences using the word.
• Create Mile Long Sentences using the word.
• Create a classroom elaborated sentence to submit each week.
