Introduction 

This project will help students increase vocabulary growth in grades K - 5.

  • To increase growth of vocabulary in all subject areas
  • To use context clues to identify the meanings of words
  • To apply learned vocabulary
  • To increase the awareness of how Technology can be used as a learning tool

Content/Summary 

 

  • Each week a new word will be published on the Vocabulary Fun Webpage.
  • Teachers can select from grade appropriate vocabulary activities to complete with their class during the week.
  • At the end of the week each class will submit a well elaborated sentence using the Word Of The Week. 
  • One sentence will be selected from each grade level as the winning sentence of the week.
  • The winning sentences will be posted on the Vocabulary Fun Webpage at the beginning of the following week.

Timeline 

Monday Go to website to discover the Word of the Week and introduce to your class. Beginning week 2, classes may also view the winners from the previous week by clicking on the "Winner" button on this page.
Tuesday - Thursday Teachers will select grade appropriate activities to complete with their classes.
Friday Classes will submit their most outstanding elaborated classroom sentence by clicking on the "Submit" button on this page.
