Introduction

This is a study of rock types and geological features of the earth using the internet.

Content/Summary

    Each class will participate in activities, beginning with a scavenger hunt on the internet,  and  making their own class rock collections, learning about the differences in types of rocks and how they were formed.   They will use the internet to consult experts and research newspapers for current events about volcanoes and earthquakes around the world.  The unit will culminate with a guest geologist visiting the classrooms.
    Students will complete a group project summarizing information gained from completing the activities in this project and the K-5 ScienceWorks from the Bryan ISD Science Curriculum for Grade Five, Third Six Weeks, "This Rocks!"
