Lesson Plan
Students will learn more about the role healthy eating plays in having
healthy body systems.

Objective
Given a variety of grade level appropriate activities, students will demonstrate
an understanding of what constitutes a food guide pyramid by:
matching foods that belong in each part of the pyramid
comparing ideal and representative food guide pyramids and selecting the
appropriate pyramid for healthy eating.
recording fruit and vegetable intake for 5 days
correctly answering questions about the role of fruits and vegetables in
creating healthy body systems.
Task
Activity 1 - Build a food guide pyramid and compare it to what kids are
actually eating
Activity 2 - Take the 5 a day challenge
Activity 3 - Fruit and Vegetable Scavenger Hunt
Activity 4 - Create a product persuading others to eat five servings
of fruits and vegetables a day.
